The Saratoga Lake Sailing Club (SLSC) was founded in 1957 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1960. The purpose of the Club is to promote and develop interest in sailing and sailboat racing and to cooperate with and aid individuals and groups interested in sailing. SLSC is a member of the US Sailing 'MVP' program.

The Club has approximately 185 Regular memberships which can be either family or individual. Any person with an interest in sailing may apply for membership to the Club.

The Club owns a beautiful house and surrounding lands on the western shore of Saratoga Lake. The Clubhouse is (in normal times) available to members throughout the year. Our location provides easy access to the Lake for racing and cruising.

Sailboat racing is one of the prime activities of the Club and has been an important and enjoyable tradition. Races are held every Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening with special regattas held throughout the summer. See our fleets page for information on our racing fleets. Owners of sanctioned fleet boats are given preference when applying for membership. We do not employ paid race committee, rather Club members run our racing program.

The Club also has an active social calendar throughout the year. This typically includes such events as:

-Commodore's Party
-Champagne Brunch
-Fourth of July BBQ
-Labor Day Lobster Boil

In addition to these Club sponsored events, each of the racing fleets conducts social events, often in conjunction with fleet sponsored regattas.

The waterfront offers a variety of boat storage options. A large grass section is used for storing smaller boats on dollies which are dry sailed. Larger boats are stored on trailers in a boat park; a ramp and an electric hoist make launching both quick and convenient. Storage racks are used for board boats such as Lasers, Sunfish and Windsurfers. Boats too large to be dry sailed are moored in designated areas. Some members store boats on in-the-water storage racks. A picnic area with tables, charcoal grills, and playground equipment is also part of the waterfront.

SLSC has several programs to teach sailing, for juniors and adults. These programs are run by the Saratoga Sailing School.

The Club does not have paid professional staff and depends on the active participation of the members to maintain the Club facilities. In the Spring, members prepare the Club for the season's activities by cleaning up the clubhouse and grounds and placing the floating docks in position. In the fall, members button down the Club for the winter. During the season, volunteers may be requested for special projects to maintain or improve the club's facilities. Participation in these activities is a requirement of membership. This assures that dues and fees are maintained at a reasonable level and makes the Club a great family recreational investment.

There are 2 levels of full membership in the Club, plus a Junior level:

Membership Class Qualification Dues
Regular*   $700
Student A full-time post-secondary student up to age 26 (minors must have parental consent) $250
Junior An individual of secondary school age who is active with the Sailing School $225

*A new Regular membership requires a one-time initiation fee of $300 (not included in the above fee). There are no initiation fees for Student or Junior members.
